Grading Criteria
| Quizzes: | Ten ten-minute quizzes will be given during the semester. Each quiz will consist of at most two questions taken directly form each week's homework assignment (which is not graded). | 20% |
| Two-hour exams: | Three exams will be given in class on the following dates: 2/12, 3/18, and 4/15. | 60% |
| Final exam: | A cumulative, two-hour exam will be given Saturday, May 3rd, 2008, at 10:05 am. | 20% |
| All exams are closed-book and closed-notes. Each student will be allowed to bring to each exam a 3x5” index card with any material written thereon that he/she considers important. Calculators will also be allowed (necessary, in fact), but no pre-programmed equations or notes are acceptable. All students are expected to abide by the Virginia Tech Honor Code. |
| Homework assignments will be given on a weekly basis, but will not be collected or graded. However, you are strongly encouraged to complete the assignment because each week's quiz will be taken directly from the homework. |
| The basis for grade assignment is the class median; those scoring above the median will receive a grade between A+ and B-, inclusive. To allow for particularly good classes, however, any final score over 74% will receive at least a B-. |
