About this Website

This website originated from two sources: (1) background information about the luminescence of lanthanide ions written by Brian Tissue for his students, and (2) material derived from a collaboration¹ between Virginia Tech and the University of Georgia funded under the NSF Functional Nanostructures program.²

The Latest

Brian Tissue is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Virginia Tech. He is on leave at the National Science Foundation for the 2003-2004 year, but will return Sept. 2004 to continue doing very small things. He has complete faith in his student colleagues to keep things going, left to right, Jeff Carter, B. Tissue, and Wes Gordon.
