Here are a few books and papers that I recommend. (I must admit that I have not finished reading all of the books.) Listed in no particular order.

D. Laurillard, Rethinking University Teaching: A Framework for the Effective Use of Educational Technology, (Routledge: London, 1993).
Not an easy read, but an excellent treatise on using technology in education.

S. Tobias, Revitalizing Undergraduate Science: Why Some Things Work and Most Don't, (Research Corporation: Tucson, AZ, 1992).
If you ever get a chance to hear Tobias talk don't miss her!

J. N. Spencer, "New Directions in Teaching Chemistry: A Philosophical and Pedagogical Basis," J. Chem. Ed., 1999, 76, 566.
A very nice summary and argument for using guided inquiry in teaching.

D. S. Domin, "A Review of Laboratory Instruction Styles," J. Chem. Ed., 1999, 76, 543.
Characterization of Expository, Inquiry, Discovery, and Problem-based teaching methods.

CONFCHEM Archives On-line Conferences organized by the DivCHED Committee on Computers in Chemical Education (CCCE).
Contains papers and discussion archives on a wide variety of chemical education topics.
Motivation

D. A. Norman, Things That Make Us Smart: Defending Human Attributes in the Age of the Machine, (Addison-Wesley: Reading, MA, 1993).

Provides an interesting historical perspective relevant to technology in education.
