Graduate Recruiting Weekend for Admitted Students

The Weekend is March 14-16 in Blacksburg, Virginia. We invite all admitted students presently within the United States to join us. Call or email Angie Miller (540-231-8225, millera@vt.edu) to make your travel arrangements.

What is the Weekend?

The weekend is an enjoyable, expenses-paid visit to Virginia Tech in the company of other prospective students. You will explore our department, tour our facilities, consult with our professors, and "wine and dine" with faculty and graduate students at Virginia Tech. Lodgings are provided at the nearby Hawthorn Suites Hotel.

Who is invited?

We invite all admitted, prospective graduate students presently living in the United States to join us in Blacksburg.

When is the Weekend?

The Weekend starts officially at 5 PM on Friday, March 14th, with a poster session in Owens Hall on the Virginia Tech central campus. Dinner is a little later that evening -- we want to make sure that guests with difficult travel plans can join us. Events continue through the evening of Saturday, March 15th. Participants depart Blacksburg on the morning of Sunday, March 16th.

I'm driving to Blacksburg. How do I get there?

I think I need to travel by air. What should I do?

We will cover reasonable airfares into Roanoke, Virginia (ROA). Angie Miller will make your arrangements for you using Virginia Tech's preferred travel agency. Someone from Chemistry will greet you at the airport and drive you to Blacksburg. And we will drive you back to ROA on Sunday morning or afternoon, depending on your flight itinerary.
