My current research focus is science education. Current projects are the Integrated Science Curriculum and the STEP Summer Program for incoming first year science students. I am also involved in the College of Science’s development of forthcoming undergraduate degree programs in Systems Biology, Nanoscience, Neuroscience, and Computational Science.

My work in environmental analytical chemistry has been centered on the development of new methods to measure heavy metal contaminants in sediments and groundwater.
