Student Organizations

One of the benefits of a comprehensive university is the availability of numerous student groups that foster academic achievement in a social context. Chemistry is fortunate to interface with several such groups.

Chemistry Club

The Virginia Tech Chemistry Club hosts a variety of social, professional development, and campus / community outreach activities.

The Chemistry Club is a chapter of the Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society (SAACS). The mission of SAACS is to support undergraduate students, their faculty, and the Local Section members in promoting professional development, mentoring, and peer-support mechanisms for those majoring in the chemical sciences.

Club members are encouraged to join SAACS through the American Chemical Society.  Student affiliation allows opportunities to network with top professionals, attend scientific meetings, receive a special magazine called  In Chemistry, access ACS career and employment services, and use the Directory of Experiential Opportunities that lists co-ops, internships, and summer jobs for undergraduate chemical science students.
